Why Bharatam

'If there is one place on the face of the earth where all the dreams of living men have found a home from the very earliest days when man began the dream of existence, it is India.'

~ French philosopher and writer, Romain Rolland

Bharat has always been a land of dreams, the land where the spirit of man soared the highest heaven and proclaimed the noblest Truths to the entire world, unencumbered of all narrowness. It is a timeless land, the very cradle of civilization, where diverse races and myriad ways of life came together over millennia, to coexist and create a Nation-over the foundation: Live and let Live! It has seen periods of unimaginable progress and prosperity, followed by deeply destabilizing periods of conquest, invasion and decline! But the soul of Bharat persisted through both the good and bad times and emerged stronger and wiser!

Bharat today stands at such a crossroad of immense possibility.Seventy-five years have passed since political freedom came, whenfinally, centuries of foreign rule was cast aside. For the first time in many centuries, political power was again in the hands of Bharatiyas! Political Freedom came, but the mind was still colonized. The reform and revolutionary changes, in the education system, in the judicial system, in the administrative system and most of all in the political and economic system, never came. Some progress was made, but millions still languish in unimaginable poverty! Corruption is widespread and communal and caste violence still engulfs us from time to time. The rejuvenation of the national spirit that was needed to plunge into an era of peace, progress and prosperity got obfuscated by a politics of opportunism, division and corruption.

More than a century ago, the great son of Bharat, Swami Vivekananda proclaimed:

"Let New India arise - out of the peasants' cottage, grasping the plough; out of the huts of the fisherman, the cobbler, and the sweeper. Let her spring from the grocer's shop, from beside the oven of the fruit-seller. Let her emanate from the factory, from marts, and from markets. Let her emerge from groves and forests, from hills and mountains... Skeletons of the Past, there, before you, are your successors, the India that is to be."

The time for New India, of a resurgent Bharat has come. Bharat has more than half a billion young people, less than 40 years of age - and most of them are restless for a brighter future, for opportunities to grow and prosper, and most importantly for a sense of National belonging. Bharatam Party pledges to be that vehicle of change. It is rooted in the ideology of inclusion, tolerance and freedom - the very ideas that Bharat has stood for over millennia! It does not represent any region or community but stands for all of Bharat, for every Bharatiya - irrespective of caste, creed and culture! It is committed to usher in an era of social cohesion, economic prosperity, peaceful co-existence of all communities, and most importantly building a Nation where the spirit of Man can again take flights to the highest heaven and inspire the entire world to dream of a shared future of humanity based on Truth, Goodness and Beauty!
